The Military Wedding of Stella and Tom 9/24/11

27 Miracles has coordinated many different types of weddings, but this wedding on 9/24/11 was a first to perform with the testimony that we heard on the day of the wedding. Stella wanted to have her wedding originally at a local hall with chicken wings and cake.  Her hairdresser( which is my hair dresser) told her that she needed to hire a wedding planner to help her plan this special day and forget the chicken wings. So here  I am getting a pedicure with my hair in curlers, I get introduced to Stella( hmmm great first impression….NOT!!) …Stella called me that same night and scheduled an appointment and to work we went!

We planned a wedding at the Villas of Grand Cypress with the very talented and creative events manager Allison Yates.  The date was set!  I am a Wish Upon a Wedding Volunteer http://wishuponawedding.org/  and when Wish Upon a Wedding was offering an auction of wedding services to help people who were terminally ill and not able to have their wedding due to finances, Stella being a nurse was all about helping.     A  few days before the bidding started, she received some bad news about two carotid artery tumors that had to be removed as an emergency( and this was just a well check  at her doctor).  This started a battery of emergency testing that was required and a biopsy.

Stella and Tom called me the day of the auction following the biopsy that she was too weak to sit at the computer and bid on her items.  She told me what to bid on and their bids were made.  Stella and Tom were able to obtain their video, photo and reception chairs through Wish Upon a Wedding while helping someone else out.

On the day of the surgery Stella  had a stroke on the table and was placed on life support for several days.  They did not guarantee her making it.  The prayers of course started and  by the grace of God, she recuperated.  The first place that she went to after her surgery was the 27 Miracles Christmas Extravaganza to pay tribute to the Brides Against Breast Cancer and the US Marines Toys for Tots Charity event that we were doing.  Wow! And wouldn’t you know it out of the hundreds that went there, she enters a raffle and wins an engagement session with the very same photographer that she was using from the auction through Wish Upon A Wedding! See photographer Sivan’s blog on that http://sivanphotography.blogspot.com/2011/09/stella-tom-married.html

But on September 24, 2011 at the beautiful Villas of Grand Cypress, with the sun shining( I say this happily as the entire week it rained from 2pm on) Stella and Tom, a retired USA Sargeant, were married.  They were married to the beautiful music of Catherine Way of Harpstrings,  the Honor Guard coming in To Proud to be an American and a saber ceremony, along with the  Cinderella Carriage from High Horse Carriage.  Just as Stella  and Tom exchanged their vows and Rev. Moore said the blessing,  a sprinkle of rain started( uh oh…the thought of moving a ceremony indoors now?? Quick prayer, please let us get through the night without any rain so they can also have a grand exit! Prayers Answered!!) Split second sprinkle was done! And the bride got through her  Spanish vows that she learned just for the groom at the ceremony.

Stella and Tom Golf Course

The reception started with the a beautiful single rose presentation single file by the 27 Miracles team and the bridal party, ending with the groom giving her a dozen roses to You Are The First, My Last, My Everything, by Barry White http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcd3XuQwDQQ into their first dance , Amazed By Lonestar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLappXxgVHs

The bride gave her testimony of gratitude as all the doctors and nurses that helped her during her surgery were present.  There were many tears of joy at this event. The groom serenaded his bride to Eric Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwprrAEL9-E wow! As he sang this to his bride, we can see more tears of joy from the guests. There was so much romance at this wedding going on, there was even a surprise wedding proposal! And the girl said yes!!

The night ended with a beautiful sparkler send off in their golf cart!!!!

27 Miracles wants to thank all the vendors that made this night extra special.  Indio of Indio Entertainment, Catherine Way of Harpstrings, Bruce of Treasured Moments Videography, Sivan Photography, Party Flavors Cakes, Casa Di Bella Bridal Boutique,  of course the beautiful shoes from Angela Nuran to compliment her dress, Ana Dasilva of Anabella Salon, High Horse Carriage, Allison and her staff at the Villas of Grand Cypress, Orlando Party Rentals, A Chair Affair,  The West Orange Honor Guard and Col Lt Sanger, Andres Roque of Miami Pro DJ and Lighting,  The Floral and Decor team from 27 Miracles Wedding Consulting,  for the amazing centerpieces and bouquets, Rev. Marcus Moore and all the assistants from 27 Miracles who made this day extra special for Stella  and Tom.

A Happy Birthday to Matthew

It is hard to believe that 24 months ago, baby Matthew came into this world weighing a mere 2.2 lbs and fighting for his life. But the prayers of his dedicated parents, the support of the Florida Hospital NICU doctors, nurses and therapists maintained the health of this tiny little miracle. Now who can stop Matthew?

27 Miracles wishes you a Happy Birthday Matthew and many blessings to you and your parents Micca and Gerry.

Surprise and Choreographed First Dances…Becoming More Popular

27 Miracles has seen a rise in requests to have surprise first dances and choreographed first dances.  It makes the weddings so much more fun and exciting. Brides and Grooms these days want their wedding to be different from anyone else’s and adding different touches whether it is in the location, the menu, the decor, the entertainment or the first dance or an in between dance, it is something that each individual couple can do to make their day special.  The Planners at 27 Miracles love to have the ability to help create the different things that a couple can do at their wedding.

Although we can’t share who of our up and coming couples are doing what, we can at least share one that had her dance choreographed with her groom and her dad at her wedding.

Top Wedding Trends For 2012

                                                          Top Wedding Trends for 2012

27 Miracles has noticed a lot of changes for the up and coming 2012 weddings.  When they come to us to coordinate the wedding they are looking for fresh and innovative ideas that will make them stand out more than any ordinary classical wedding. They want to be unique and have fun.

  1. After having Prince William and Kate marry this past spring with all the royal flair, we have had brides calling us to find out how they can plan a royal wedding of their own.  The things that stand out are the stylish hats that the guests can wear and the simplicity of Kate’s dress.  Now, living in Florida makes that style of dress tricky if a summer wedding is planned due to the heat; unless of course it is indoors.
  2. Another popular trend is dessert bars, coffee and specialty teas for the guests to enjoy at the wedding in addition to the wedding cake.
  3. Brides are taking themed weddings to a whole new level, if they cannot have the zoo wedding with exotic animals at the location; they are bringing the theme into a location that can accommodate that. For instance, the décor in prints, with exotic animals or birds at the cocktail hour allowing for photo opportunities with guests.
  4. Give her the bling!!! The brides are incorporating bling everywhere; bouquets and handles, their centerpiece décor and even in their gowns, shoes and tiaras or hair accents. Some even want them on their invitations and cake!
  5. Two dresses! Years ago when our parents were getting married and our grandparents it was a very popular thing to change your dress as you left the reception. Now the brides are going back to that tradition but instead they are electing to change midway through the reception so that they can showcase dress number two which is at times short and flirty, or long and sexy and elegant.  The girls want to be able to have fun and dance while wearing more comfortable attire.

One of the things that newlyweds like to do after they get married  and settled in is to have a house-warming party. This s a great time to invite good friends over to see the wedding album or video if they are ready.

Here is a fun idea to incorporate… a dessert bar!  Lindt Chocolate does a great job with ideas…
